Shooting Stars
You don't see them everyday, which only adds to their appeal
Watching them blaze across the sky gives a sense of the surreal
You can't help but stop in awe and gaze until they self-extinguish
And just before they fade away, some will make a fervent wish.
A wish which holds our hopes and dreams – unspoken by their nature –
And in that moment when stars are seen, hopes could melt a glacier –
And at that moment when stars cease to be, there's built a bond of trust.
It offers solace in times of need, when wishes are void of lust.
Whenever you are fortunate enough to gaze upon such a star,
Take a moment of silence and be grateful within your heart thus far
For we are very seldom fortunate to gaze upon such a sight, that's right
To see such a display of shooting stars under the canopy of the night.
These diamonds, in chalices flung out from divinity's hand
Gifts of faith, love and hope, trio entrusted to our command.
For toddlers and elders alike, cosmic spell cast, then gone from view
Though rare, their moments resplendent, as wishes wait to come true.
So when you see such splendor, streaking through the night
Take a moment, if you will, to appreciate this wondrous sight
Bringing the world closer together, no matter how near or how far
All these wonders come to life, within the beauty of a shooting star.
