Significance

Close your eyes. Breathe deeply the smell of brine, and the cool breeze that carries it. The ocean, cold and vast, beyond greatest imaginings ebbs and flows with your sighing. The sky stretches over you, infintely. It's wondrous blue expanse clouded over with grey and white forboding.

It's fitting to feel so very small in this moment. This moment when my world as I know it is falling apart.

Isn't it in times like this we realise how insignificant we are? For a time, our world revolved entirely around the pride of our heart, be it a person, a dream, or an enterprise. And then in one unexpected moment it is snatched from us. We feel totally lost, confused. A small, solitary figure standing on a lonely beach.

I look out over the ocean and into the sky. My toes burrow into the sand, as if to keep steady the reeling of my being. My mind screams, cries out in agony, "It's OVER! What do I do now? Where do I start? How can I pick up these shattered pieces?"

A voice whispers in my ear. I am here. It isn't over. Don't lose heart. You will find a new dream. New dreams emerge out of shattered hope. Though this may look hopeless, as if you cannot walk on any further for the ocean of uncertainty before you, I will give you a ship to carry you over this ocean and it's breeze will put new winds of hope in your sails. This is your new pathway to JOY.
