Alan Gorg was born in Hollywood and graduated from Hollywood High School and from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science, and later with a Master of Fine Arts in Theater Arts. He wrote, produced, and directed short educational films for the University of California Extension Media Center.
The family moved to Hawaii, where he and his wife Gwyn wrote, produced, and directed a weekly PBS video magazine show. Back in California, they built their own outdoor theater and formed the Mariposa-Yosemite Theater Group—writing, producing, and directing original short plays and children’s theater. Returning to Los Angeles to teach, they resumed producing films and teaching.
