A washed out banker trying to find meaning to his existence. I can strongly relate to the quarterlife crossroads. I'm now 27yo and have only just begun the journey of self discovery. In plain words, i have wasted the last 27 years of my life. But I'm confident that by staying hungry and foolish, something good will come out of it.

All of this should be taken with an IMO -- hopefully, no offense is taken by my critique.

1. The vocals, overall, have a reverb quality to it that sounds as though it was recorded in a room or hallway. The office scene seemed to have especially intense echoes. The soundtrack, I thought, was a little too loud, and kind of "too much," too intentionally "intense."

2. The guy's best friend was too whiny for my tastes.

2a. I wanted to see the main character get more bold, more extreme in his self-destruction. He's got a loving wife, an obviously high-paying job, he clearly loves risks & risktaking (as evidenced by his stock-trading, I think), so I really wanted more of the underbelly of his life -- that was when I got very interested.

3. The ending ... I have mixed feelings about it. One the one hand, this is obviously a verité/naturalistic film, based heavily on day-to-day events (ie, going to a bar, having a drink, snorting a line of coke, etc.) this is good. then the ending goes in a bombastic crime-fiction direction. my criticism would be that it seems to be a big departure from what the film was, leading up to that point. there's just a discrepancy -- IMO -- between the ending and the rest of the story that just wasn't gelling for me.

All these things said, it's still coooool that you managed to make a film, and I look forward to seeing what you do next.

I thought this was brilliantly done on all levels, the pacing, sound effects, musical score and suspence to say nothing about the acting.Well there was one thing, that boss who did the firing, wasn't he a little over the top? What do I know except I have things to do tonight and here I am transfixed 8 or so minutes.

This is a striking shot,so I guess during your "wasted 27 years" you took time out from banking to play with a camera? Nice work!

sorry about the video quality. its due to the compression issue to meet the 100mb max limit.

How should we affect change?

Dec 26, 2007

This is my first blog ever. I've always had this view that bloggers are self-absorbed individuals who thinks that they're people out there who are actually interested in their daily lives. But i guess if you really have something sincere to say, then i guess it's justified.

anyways, what i really want to discuss is How we as individuals can affect change? I've always been this idealist nut who's witness so much injustice in this world we live in. However, when i was asked this question, my mind went blank. Why is that? Ok, i better write a bit of where i come from. I come from a quasi third world country where minorities are sidelined. There is actually a written policy that has been the backbone of our politics which favours the people of the land. hence the indigenous ppl. Can you believe that! It's now twenty years down the road when that bill was first implemented. Even after achieving the objective it was intent for, which was equitable distribution of income across our country's demographic. So why can't we abolish this policy?

I guess maybe after years of living off this policy, government officials (the indigenous ppl) have come to a point of complacency. Generally, people are happy with stability, thus, why care for the minorities. This is where the great injustice is. The rich are so complacent and after being entrenched in that shallow world they live in, they are somehow blinded by the suffering of the less privileged people. Who might be the minority, but still living breathing people who needs help.

The point I'm trying to get out, is that if i was given the power to affect change, or in a position where i can affect governmental policy, i will start by abolishing this very prejudicial policy! which is titled " the National Economic Policy"......

So i ask you quarterlife individuals, where would you start if you had the power to affect change?
