track star - a poem

a stream of perceptions
slowly, painstakeningly built year by year
until, like a circle searching for its own beginning
the "self" knows not wherein to find
the place that pen met paper
and its journey began.

round and round its "self" it goes
until the path becomes a rut of repetition
and remorse.

stop.

easier said than understood;
for the flow cannot be dissected
drop by drop
unless the vessel that contains it
is willing to empty
and start fresh
as a child
taking the world
one dollop at a time,
each moment separate
having no ally or purpose
other than its own existence

to sense these things again,
no membrane between i
and other

to not walk round
the track of thoughts
yet another time,
the path that cannot be
talked into silence.

I wait
and prepare to run the race
again.
