Thank you for taking the time for an update, John. They keep getting cuter...is that possible? It was wonderful to get the details of their progress.
An idea I have been harboring for a while now is to post every creative moment my niece, Alyssa Marie Jimenez, partakes in. That way when she turns 18 I'll have a kickass birthday present (in QL for that is LQL) for her
Hope you run with this with your lil bundles of joy

OK, here's an update. The boys are running neck and neck. Over the course of 3 days they went from 4 cc's of food (breast milk or formula) to 33 cc's which is considered full feeding for a preemie. One week ago they were both scheduled to have their regular IVs replaced by a more permanent "picc" line which is an IV catheter that runs up the arm to just above the heart. The reason for this was because they were having trouble with the IVs and were having to change them frequently and it was tough to get a new one started and they were painful. They administered one to Addeson but as soon as they did the feeding took off and they removed it and canceled the one for Clark. In the first five days Clark lost 9 percent of his body weight and Addison lost 13 percent of his, which considering they were both only 4 pounds at birth, they really didn't have a lot to give. But since the feeding success they have each gained back virtually all the lost weight and have been removed from any and all IVs. Now the only connection to machines is the feeding tube and the sensor wires. Four days ago they told us that they might be ready for bottles in about five days. But the next day they were given a trial bottle feeding and they both did really well. Addeson took the whole thing and Clark took 23 of 33. They have been phasing in the bottles from once every 4 feedings (there are 8 feedings per day) to every 3 feedings to every 2 feedings starting tonight. Not bad since they aren't supposed to be able to do that until the 34th gestational week which is tomorrow. Yesterday when we arrived for an afternoon session, we discovered them in little beds instead of incubators. This was a huge step since one of the criteria for them being discharged is the ability for them to control their own body temperature. When we arrived this morning they were back in the incubators. Apparently their body temperatures were down a degree during the night so back in they went. No big deal, they just need some more body fat on their bony little butts. They said they might try them out in the air again tonight to see what happens. They are officially the cutest little babies ever born. It's in the national registry.
By the way, there is a magazine called ICG or International Cinematographer that is available on news stands in certain markets. The current issue has an article about Quarterlife and it is framed by pretty extensive interviews with Nicole and myself.

John...thanks for the update! It seems we are all having some problems with the message system, but I spent the weekend in Atlanta and had 6 duplicate messages from you this morning.
I replied and I'm not sure if they got through or not. Just wanted to let you know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
When you get a chance, I think we all would enjoy seeing more pictures.
as well as continued updates.

I was trying to send Jackie a personal message but the website wont let me so I'm going to post it here. Feel free to not read this. To everyone else that sent me a personal message, text message, etc. Thank you. I've had so little time and been so frustrated trying to send this one note I'm simply responding to everyone here and now. Thank you.
Hey Jackie
Thanks for the kind words. We went into the hospital on Monday for a routine visit and the doctor sent us over to the hospital to get a steroid shot to help the lungs develop. The doctor decided to keep Cynthia over night since the shot has to be given twice, twenty four hours apart. They hooked her up to monitors and discovered she was having regular contractions. No labor, just contractions. So they gave her drugs to calm the contractions but they had to keep her for another day to see if it worked. Wednesday morning they changed the medicine and it git the contractions under control but her blood work showed an increase of enzymes and a drop in her blood platelets. It was slight but enough to raise concern. They kept her a few more hours and ran another blood panel and discovered a continuation of the trend which could lead to something called Hellp syndrome that could be fatal if untreated. So they decided the best course of action was to deliver the babies. So the boys were born on Wednesday night around 10:30pm. They were roughly 4 pounds each they are doing well. They have been breathing on their own from the get-go and tonight they both digested 4cc of food delivered through a tube. About an hour ago I held Clark while Cynthia held Addeson. I explained to him what was going on, how he will be able to come home with us soon, that he will learn to eat, learn to crawl, learn to walk, learn to talk, and after that, learn anything. I told him about birthdays and back yards, parks, baseball, movies, Grandparents, Christmas in Syracuse, 4th of July at Cape Cod, Grandpa Clark and his trains, Grandpa Gerry and his workshop, Grandmas and their big meals, I told him about his Aunts and Uncles and all of his cousins. I told him how proud I was of him already, how his mother and I loved him and his brother more than anything in the world.
