I've said this in another forum of similar topic, but I still think it holds true "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" with that being said the person who is obviously beautiful but doesn't know it/ flaunt it is even more beautiful to me. There's a lot to be said for the humble. There's a woman at my job by most definitions of beauty she probably wouldn't make the cut her skin is flawed, she has some extra weight, but her personality literally shines through all the time and makes her truly beautiful. She always smiles even though she has endured and continues to endure troubles I couldn't even imagine handling, she's never down or in a bad mood and always knows what to say to make anyone smile or brighten their day including me even when I think it would be impossible to get happy. It makes her the most beautiful woman I've ever met.

What you said about the woman you work with is one of the nicest things I've ever heard anyone say about anyone.

WE all have seen those people that are just sexy from their head to their toes but once you start to get to know them you suddenly realize that they really are not that beautiful. So i guess what I'm asking is not only what do you think it means to be sexy but also what is true beauty to you.

Isn't interesting when the opposite happens? You know, when you see or meet someone that you don't find attractive or sexy, but after you get to know them and find out you like them, your perception of them changes.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

I love clichés!

Here's another good one -

"Beauty is only skin deep"

Both are true.

Beauty is our individual perception of two different things – what we see and what we feel.

When you look at this picture ... what do you see? What do you feel?

trenchael: May 09, 2008 - 06:39 AM PST I think it's actually the least complicated question. There have been a number of threads on searching for an adequate, all encompassing definition of beauty. Too often, people try hard to be poetic in their definition because they are searching for the "A HA! That's perfect!" response.

I think it's not complicated because more and more, I don't think it matters to me what other people's definition of beauty is. I know what definition i have for it and what I find beautiful. I know what I find beautiful may or may not be what someone else finds beautiful - and the thing is, that's okay.

sarahbbo: May 08, 2008 - 09:57 PM PST I just put an essai I wrote about beauty on my page.
I think true beauty is only a vision we have about exactely what we find attractive. We like things about people and if we find those things in someone, we'll then find this someone truly beautiful. Everything is always related about what we feel. Sometimes, of course, we can be surprise and learn new things we love we didn't know. I agree with Miss sixy, what's true beauty? is the most complicated question!!

BLA: May 06, 2008 - 07:44 PM PST well, scientifically they've shown that people whose proportions correspond to the golden ratio are aesthetically beautiful. however, true beauty encompasses a body, mind, soul existence that transcends words and tangible description.s

sixysummat: May 06, 2008 - 01:22 PM PST I don't know that I can define real beauty, but I know it when I see it. My mother is truly beautiful to me. Mark Matkevich is sexy. But to find it in people I don't really know, I look into their eyes. This is the most complicated question I have ever attempted to answer, and discovered that I can't.
