the other night i went out to the bars in lodo (for those who don't know"lover downtown" Denver) with my ubberly fabulous friend Tyrell and Brian. I felt bad for drinking for ditching my afternoon classes, to drink for 8 hours on a monday night, but i needed the break from learning.
After starting at happy hour at 4 at "the pit" we ended up at and gay night club "jr's", and shortly after we got disqualified form trivia because we were cheating, we went to a super yuppie bar called "front porch" (i highly recommend this bar- drinks are substantial and there is mucho eye candy)
After sitting at the bar for about an hour, and eyeing the oh so cute blond Baryshnikov look alike, i was approached by an older man. i was looking cute, & He told me he admired my look, that i had great hair, and a pretty face. He looked about 40 and was quite handsome, well put together, and Tyrell was convinced that i had struck it rich. He bought us both a drink and proceeded to tell me his profession. this is how the conversation went;

me "so what do you do for a living?"
him "im in the facial reconstructive field"
me "aaaaa, what?"
him "Facial reconstruction..ummm...."
me "oh, you mean plastic surgery"
him yes, yes i do"

so far in my life there have only been two guys in the past who i have decidedly put on my do not date list, these men are,one, my ex boyfriends, and, two, veterinarians. My ex boyfriends (all 20something of them) i count as a collective, because they all sucked, and what's worse than ex sex anyway?
The latter i placed on the is because i am not an animal person....ok... This sounds harsher than it is. Its not that i hate animals, in fact i will probably own a beta fish and a bulldog named "papa chubby" within my life span. But i cant imagine my boyfriend/husband/lover coming home and explaining in detail how he saved little Melissa's kitty "frank" for sudden death this afternoon, and how he had a warmfuzzy sense of fulfillment after he stitched it back up .eew. homie dont play dat.
would i date a garbage man, yes,
would i date a computer engineer, yes (especially if he wore black rimmed glasses)
would i date a teacher?, yes
would i date a musician, probably
would i date a pediatrician, yes
.........but a plastic sergon,
a person who tells women that they are less than perfect that, they need to be lifted, tucked and torture to be able to keep up with the celebrity worship. nope.... not so much.
anyway.... back to the story
So here i am going out on a monday night, a bit drunk, ditching school, thinking at i am not learning anything, when in fact i am learning a great deal about myself.
So yet another man goes on the list. Yes plastic surgery may be a thriving industry, it might lend you to magnificent household accommodations, vacations to the bahamas, and an early retirement, but one thing is for sure... i will never ever be mrs. perfect. and thats ok with me.
