"We all know that Art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us realize truth, at least the truth that is given us to understand. The artist must know the manner whereby to convince others of the truthfulness of his lies." ~Pablo Picasso
"You have to like imperfection, rehearsing imperfection. There's something very powerful about disappointment - something creative always emerges later. It's essential to learn to be freely imperfect." ~Gabriel Orozco
I am an artist working out of NYC, though originally from Florida. I've studied at Oberlin and will be working towards a graduate degree in the future. My existing works are for sale, but I'm always delighted to produce a commissioned piece.
Such a strong expression, I love it. Reminds me of Anders Zorn's "Alvan." One of those rare nudes with a brave and direct look. Definately suites you as a portrait. :)

This is a self-portrait with no glamorizing - rather the opposite, in fact; there's a rigorous refusal to make yourself into a movie star. Black and white, vigorous and rough execution. The rather unnerving direct gaze into the viewer's eyes from an anti-classical posture is a different dimension of this ruthless self-examination. From me, you get highest marks for the courage it took to do this.
