I'm working on... getting The Prelude finished, finishing the semester, and getting ready to apply for grad schools

I'm a pretty big deal.

About me

I'm currently working to get my BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing, and will hopefully go to grad school to get my MFA in writing. I love to write pretty much everything that could be written except for academia crap (i hate research!). I'm editor of my college's literature journal which means i'm certifiably insane. But despite the stress and Terri bothering me 24/7 I love it and eventually want to get into publishing.

i remembered how the stars worked. this is great. i've read it beore but not in the prelude. this is what you're best at, these short prose peices. um, Art Voice. they have a flash fiction section, and i think you should send some in.

i like this not only because Pym is a really great name, but also because its simple and important. and i like this: "Pym puts his flashlight into his mouth, puffs out his cheeks, and he glows -- my moon; I tide by him, rising, falling."

so this is the second time i've not understood the whole star system. i always want to click each star until i get to 5, but this website doesn't work this way.

this poem deserves 5 stars and this is why: your rhymes are natural and don't stand out and say, "hey, look at me. i am really really forced and lori decided to use me at midnight on a wednesday in the middle of becca and sam's room after an hour of complaining that she can't rhyme to save her life." really really good lines. there's something about, "i wonder how our parents never noticed never knew
how i muffled my mouth beneath the pillowcase with you" that makes me hold my heart. so simple and so honest. beautiful

"Crinkled leaves cry as they cradle their hopes that die on the grass that gasps on a frigid fall afternoon, and I wonder why leaves need to die so soon,"

really really great.

Maybe its the shared Medaille experience or that I've lived in Buffalo my whole life but this is so good. I love the first part, the images and feelings expressed throughout are beautiful!

This game (please just one more time before you
leave) we play – (I’m sick of scrabble)
this scrabble – (but maybe you’ll win now)
(yea, not) you. (how will you know, just try)
(not tonight) you play to win (just start one)
(you promise only 5 minutes?) I play for you.
This X (sure sure yea just pick your tiles)
I love – (you take too long you take too long)
look – (don’t be a jerk, I’m doing this for you)
(see) FOXBOXFIX – (aren’t they fun?)
(jeez) NO, (you can’t do anything right)
(whatever) you say. (why do you even play?)
Why use BOX when BOTOX lands on
(I play) triple (because you’re hard to say no to)
(I play) letter (because someday you’ll lose)
(and that) score? (will make all the abuse)
(so, so,) you say. (very much worth it.)
I don’t play that
way,
I say, I play
for you.
Oh well,
you say.
More points
for me.
I score,
I win,
you say,
but I
say I
win too.
