Why do parents freak out when their child decides they want to do something crazy with there hair or get a piercing? I've never understood that.
I've dyed my hair several times and my mom could care less. In fact, she does it for me. She told me, "It's your hair you can do what you want to it." I have some fiends that just want to get simple blond highlights and their parents have a total fit.
Several of my friends pierced their noses and lips and their parents got so pissed off. I don't understand it! Why make such a big deal out of it? They're just trying to express themselves. It's so stupid.
There's just one more thing that has happened to a lot of my friends. Their parents tell them they wear too much black. What the heck? It's just black! The parents always assume that their child is going "goth" or "emo" just because they are wearing black! And why would they care what stereotype their child is? It doesn't matter! If they want to be "goth" or "emo" then let them! Just let them be their selves!

I completely agree!! Luckily, I was blessed with parents who let me dye my hair and stuff. My mom even dyes my hair and cuts it for me. She even told me that if I want to get a tattoo, I can as long as I pay for it. and if I wanted to get a piercing, I'm pretty sure they'd be cool with it. and I wear TONS of black. but it's not because I'm goth or emo or whatever. It's because black is sliming. And I accent it with other colors.

But yeah, I agree. I don't understand parents who don't let their kids express themselves. It's like they just want them to be just like them. And what they don't realize is by constricting them to this "mold" they're making them not want to tell them things and then they'll do stuff behind their backs, which just makes things worse, ya know? lol. I've obviously given this a lot of thought.
