My Only Friend

What if this was my last breath
My eyes closed
And the next was death?

I would awake into a cruel reality
One that transcends
Into light maybe darkness,
A reality that never ends.

Would there be someone to greet me
Show me around, help me to see
A god, a friend, an angel or three.

It's not so marvelous
Yet it's oh so grand
The people here so great
Have found peace, hand in hand.

So this is death, the great equalizer
The greatest one, my great friend
This is what I've been craving
For my only friend, the end?
