This is a self-portrait with no glamorizing - rather the opposite, in fact; there's a rigorous refusal to make yourself into a movie star. Black and white, vigorous and rough execution. The rather unnerving direct gaze into the viewer's eyes from an anti-classical posture is a different dimension of this ruthless self-examination. From me, you get highest marks for the courage it took to do this.
