So... I started writing a screenplay

Tonight I spent four hours on the start of screenplay with this woman that I met at a writer's workshop. The story is certainly dramatic, though I'm not sure it is going to meet with commercial success. I think whether that is going to happen or not depends on the research I do on the background into the Marine Corps, politics and situations that may parallel the situation portrayed in the story. The woman I'm working with is a former Marine and she seems to think the story is accurate. But the question is this: Is it oversimplified? Is it real? Can it sell?

So... I started writing a screenplay

People like movies about the military--as long as you include an explosion or two and a scene that involves push-ups and other training exercises in the pouring rain either just before dawn or just after dusk, you should have no trouble selling it. I guess, you should probably be careful with how you handle the politics in the story but people love movies about the military, especially those with any ounce of authenticity. I say dig in deep with your research and see where the story takes you.

where do you want to go with your general idea? I guess I'm really intrigued by what your screenplay idea is. :] -Cait
