Artist Statement

We had our AP open house last month and we had to write an artist statement. So, I just thought I'd post mine here:
(fyi; the "tape addiction" comment is an inside joke)

“Mallory, put the tape down!”
“Mallory, give me my keys!”
“Mallory, don’t sass me!”
“Mallory, get back to work!”

These are the things I constantly heard while I’ve been in Mrs. Burke’s class, but the most important thing was, “An artist never gets too good to stop practicing.”
When I first came to Draw/Paint 1, I sucked. I still think I do, but not as much as I used to. I do know that I’ve grown a lot since my newbie days. I’m not done though, that’s for sure. I’m still in the process of finding my “style” (and getting over my tape addiction). But until that happens I’m just going to keep on practicing.
