(ive always found the course of one life to be insignificant compared to time. not to say that someones life is insignificant, but the physical span of it doesn't hold a candle to time. life is just a moment within it...like the passing of a day.)
From the sunrise of adolescence
Childhood memories of play, laughter and imagination
Fade within the growing intensity of midday light.
And in the ripeness of age,
Teenage experiences continue to mark the towns,
Soon vacant, to be replaced by big city living.
Reflections of the afternoon sun bounce from tower
To scraper, building to complex, as the marks
Of the once young are made on their world.
And in their settled, white-picketed homes
Rest the once city-hoppers
Who bear children rising to a sunrise to call their own.
Age comes with the evening,
As the old are swept to the white beaches of the coast.
And under their sunset, spreading their fortunes to those
Unaware of the final sliver of sun to pass beneath the horizon.
With night, a generation gone.
Starting again with the dawn,
Another moment in time.
Life.
