hey

thanks for commenting on my poetry.

i really like this body image video. i think its really important to show that men also have an idealized and unrealistic body image to live up to. sometimes i think that looking and acting like a "real man" is so much harder than acting and looking like a "real woman." the media always seems to see body image as a women's issue, but that isn't always the case.

isn't it so strange that we're our own worse critics when it comes to our bodies, especially? we're worried about how our body looks which steams from our ideas of how other people perceive our body. yet, no one ever really notices that our love handles our out of control, or any other problems we seem to criticize ourselves for.

really insightful

The truth is we all suffer from some sort of body image issue. We can all try to hide it, but in the end it gets to the best of us. Those who say they think their body is perfect, it's not true. We either think we are too fat, too short, to thin, to tall, our hair is too long or too short or not the right color. If we have straight hair we want curly hair... in the end we have to accept who we are.

I want to point out that those stick models you refer to, have a negative body image too. Most of them are only that thin because they have been constantly told that they aren't pretty enough. They all are insecure, and that's why they starve themselves because they are so insecure and have such a negative body immage and care so much about what people think. So I try to look at it that way. I speak from experiance, they are miserable people. It isn't something to aspire to, because the only result is more misery and more insecurity over every little percieved flaw that they have. I applaud you for making an effort to just not care.

I really like this video. Very honest and relevant to the body image trap society has found itself in today.
