I Am Not Here

I am here, Not because of who I was,
Who I will be,
Or who I am.
I am here,
Because of,
Not the things people think,
Not the things they have thought,
Those who walk by
With no care for that lost child,
The broken man,
Or the persecuted lowly boy;
Who works, toils, works more,
And is rewarded,
With naught but a glance.


He is not here,
And that glance,
given not out of appreciation,
But out of disgust,
for his sad being,
and where he is.

I am not here,
For he, that boy,
That lowly boy,
Has been there, never here.
He has no place to call here,
Nowhere to lie his head,
Or rest his back,
That back that worked with him,
to get him there,
the only place he got,
never here.

He is gone now,
and he never got here,
Wherever here is.
And I am not here,
But by the actions,
The indifference of others,
I will never be here.
For, it is not here that
I want to go,
Nor should I want to,
Here is the place for those people,
Who I was.

There is where I should be,
If it were not for me,
The obstacles that I,
Myself, have put in my own way,
I could stop to think where here,
And there is.

I was one of those people,
Who do not care for the small things,
But for what they will do next,
And what they want to do.

I became that child,
That man,
And that insignificant boy.
I saw where here was,
What he felt, that boy,
But most of all,
That here,
Isn’t here anymore,
For it left,
With that boy,
That insignificant,
Lowly,
Hard working,
Boy.
