It's tricky deciding what you'll put into your portfolio. What piece of art will truly define you? Will it define all of you? Or at least everything that you hoped to define?

If this is the first image and impression that you give someone, what will it be? You aren't meeting them in real life... you can't quite charm them with a witty comment or quick smile. Instead, this is what they see. Whatever you put here. Whatever you broadcast.

So, what will I broadcast today? Which channel will I put it through? And if I actually bother... who's going to see it anyway?

I feel like we cater our lives to whomever we think is watching us. Doing good deeds, eating our vegetables, even acting out -- in specific situations. We're punks with our punk friends, alcoholics with our boozers, philosophers with our artists and poets. And the true us is some insane combination therein.

But because no one here knows me yet... and may never know me... All I am right now is this blog post. Whatever you think or make of it.

And I guarantee that whatever that impression is, it's not even a tenth of a percent of who I actually am.

Perhaps there is another way of thinking about it too, such as the fact that all those charaters you allude to and more will see your work and many have been where you are and survived to see that what we present doesn't define us.It encourages us to want to see more and to be honoured that you are willing to share your gift with us.I appreciate this and applaude you.Infact your work teaches me what can be done and I am a better person for it as I'm sure others will agree. One more thing, pretention isn't a characteristic I've noticed much on this site,it is very unique and wonderful and I hope after a while you will agree. Welcome to quarterLife.

‘It doesn’t really happen. We imagine it. It is a hallucination.’ He pushed the thought under instantly. The fallacy was obvious. It presupposed that somewhere or other, outside oneself, there was a ‘real’ world where ‘real’ things happened. But how could there be such a world? What knowledge have we of anything, save through our own minds? All happenings are in the mind. Whatever happens in all minds, truly happens.
