Like an Insect's Wings

My eyes flicker,
Like an insect’s wings.

My mind erupted,
Producing entangled ideas.

A blissful couple spending the afternoon together,
A boy terrified to escape from the macrocosm he created.

The smile of a father down to his newborn baby’s inquiring eyes,
And tears of a sister watching her brother fall into an abyss.

Illustrations that startle my brittle mind,
And force me to inquire why.

These visions must have been created by myself,
But, is it fantasy or actuality?

My eyes flicker,
Like an insect’s wings.
