Live As Free As Can BeJun 23, 2008 - 19:39 PM PST There are many things I could do without. Many times I feel trapped inside. This pressure, this presence to stay in line. This weight, this world hanging heavy in my mind. But don't get me wrong, I won't be down for long. These chains can't keep me put. I'll live the life I knew I should. This fight for what's 'right', Fighting for the sight you see. No time to walk another's line. No time to sit and hear. Shedding bombs as you look in the mirror. Twisting words through the lines, Leaving no room for fear. Your words drag me under. Always the same. Always to blame. Blinded, as you point the finger at me. Torn, as you blow a kiss at me. I'm pulling double time to make you smile, But you'll never see, Because you can't hear me. Your thoughts on how my life should be. Convictions of my responsibility. Your dreams are not my reality, Tangled in the thorns of liability. I refuse to be, Anyone but me. So just take a seat, And let it be. But I'm lucky. I know. The greenest grass between my toes. The sun will shine Even as you don't want it to. The stars are never far behind, There's nothing you can do. So I'll listen to the trees: Live as free as can be. |
