Love's Lowest LabourApr 09, 2008 - 08:27 AM PST Caution is to wind As flotsam to the sea Putting all my sins aside I pen a note to thee. With poor and scrabby hand I write; With trembling veiled desire I liken me to Hercules, Apollo and The Stars. As Virtue bides in your sweet breast So Snake and Fox in mine. That you departed, I'll redress As grape transforms the vine. I'll turn now barren earlier love From bare skeletal form And once again full fleshed with fruit Return you to our home. A neighbour to apology this missive I inscribe Is 'Love' 'Possess' or might I hold you ever by my side? What'ere! I know you'll never leave again! |
