She latched onto me like a bird of prey
diving for a crippled rabbit
saw my credit card gleaming on the counter
and let out a smile like a machete through the brush
grappling hook talons and shes right at my side
nosing through all the usual questions
about who is who
and what is what
and I see her eyes roaming
as my own get by unscathed
and we both agree it might be okay
to share a set of sheets and a latex experience
and awake as business associates
tangled in mahogany briefcases and suits tailored
to milk the most out of those fading years
motherhood taking its toll on the advancing feminist role
lie back into the plastic necromancer's lap
and vile laboratory of rejuvinating effects
that dispel wrinkles or those sagging folds
that once got you a lot more than hello.
