My Generation Will Change The World!

May 30, 2008 - 22:46 PM PST

My generation will change the world.
We blog about it all the time.
We realize that global warming, poverty, and violence are all bad things-
Bad things that we will gladly talk about fixing.

Our blogs prove how globally aware we are.
Kids in China can read how tragic I think the earthquake that hit them was.

I can express my concern for genocide in Darfur,
War in the Middle East,
And the increase in pollution-
All from the comfort of my computer.

Who needs to be an activist when you can blog?

Fundraisers for impoverished, war torn countries.
Public rallies to raise pro-peace awareness.
River clean-ups and adopt-a-highway programs.
All unnecessary.

And that whole voting thing…
If I even register I can be summoned for jury duty.
Between waiting in line to vote every couple of years,
And showing up for a jury summons every five…
That’s at least three days out of every five years that I can’t blog.

If I can’t blog, no one will know how much I want change.

My generation will change the world.
Or at least talk about how we will…

That last line really hits it hard. We talk and complain about how the world is today. Really though, that seems to be all we do.

^_^ I also thought it was neat that you mentioned "Adopt a highway" I took part in that for 3 year. haha. I think it is kind of funny how community service can be seen in 2 different lights. There is the way that I see it, where people are willfully helping to make things better for everyone... and then there is forced community service that people have to do for breaking a law and whatnot... It's the exact same thing, but to some it seems so "horrible and difficult" and to others it seems "encouraging and helpful."
