My heart aches tonight
An all too familiar pain
Staring at the ceiling
Sleep evades me yet again

Inside a war is raging
My mind the battle ground
Worry and confusion
Here no peace is found

My soul is bound by past affliction
Drowning in my lonely tears
Chained to my own condemnation
For loves lost over the years

Will this bondage last forever?
One can never tell
I need a knight in shining armor
To save me from this Hell

But armor rusts and knights mere mortals
Could never offer perfect love
I must look past earthly idols
To Christ Jesus up above
