Prologue Part One

The room was dark...the only source of light was from the moon through the single hole in the ceiling. She still couldn't see him... he was away from the moons spotlight, but his smile shone thru reflecting the light. Hard breathing echoed in the still room. She stood ever so still.

"Why so afraid?"

It whispered, as if its voice were truely cold as ice.
She took a step back as it took a short step forward.

"Why do step away from me little one?"

She took another step back stubbling on a piece of wood.

"Are you afraid? Or are you curious?"

Was she? She wanted to see what took her away, but she didn't want to see what could happen to her.
She stooped down and took the piece of wood and held it firmly in front of her. A icy laugh echoed around her, as if the shadows were laughing.

"Your curious...I see..."

It took another step forward...closer to the light. The outline of it was that of a cloak hiding its figure. Man or beast she thought.
She set herself with her piece of wood as it drew closer. Like a bad dream she felt frozen in her place, eyes wide...grip firm.
It came into the light with a cold grace but she could not see its face under the hooded cloak. It was like a shadow was staring at her in the light.
Its hands came out, human hands in leather gloves reached out as if to welcome her. The piece of wood came up in reaction in her hands.

"Come."

For some reason her feet began to move towards him. Her mind afraid but her heart curious. She still held the wood tightly in small hands.
Her eyes strained to see who it was but no matter how she tried the dark covered it well for her not to see.
