qL invades Your Work & Privacy

Jun 02, 2008 - 21:40 PM PST

The following says qL can use your creativity without giving you any credit or cash. Not only that, but they can erase any of your content.

Recently, Adobe was faced with a similar issue.

I hope the lawyers of a company intended to help artists and activists come together, merely goofed and will fix this serious issue.

In the mean time, I suggest you protect your work on another website with this license.

The QUARTERLIFE, INC. ("Company" Terms of Use (http://www.quarterlife.com/terms):

I had a few interchanges with Marshall Herskovitz, the respectful gentleman behind the quarterLife series and website.

On June 3, he had forwarded our exchanges to his Director of Legal Affairs, to pursue action on reworking the Terms. There is also an understandable disclaimer to not expect changes for a few weeks - qL is updating to a shiny new website:

I actually was aware of this...ok not all of it, but majority. And...I'm slightly ok with it. I'll find it flattering if anyone wants to use my writing in anything. I doubt it'll take me anywhere.
