Red RosesJul 25, 2008 - 18:11 PM PST A sign of class, sophistication and culture, red roses have often been described as such yet to this modern girl they’re a greater sign of snobbishness and conspicuous consumption. A red rose brings with it a sense of class and sophistication to the “classy” gentleman who chooses to bestow it upon a “lucky” lady. In this day and age I wonder how much thought and care is actually put into the purchase of a red rose for a particular woman and whether the action is really worthy of such a heightened sense of class and sophistication. Rather than being a sign of a sophisticate and a caring gentleman, red roses seem more of a standard and a way of being viewed as a gentleman without actually taking the time to learn what a particular woman’s favorite flowers are. Purchasing red roses are rather like calling the multiple women a man is seeing “honey” (as to not make the ghastly mistake of calling a particular woman by another one’s name), it would be much more difficult to remember the favorite flower of each particular woman as well as their names would it not? Even with this realistic image of the standard red rose society continues to attach a sense of status and wealth with receiving red roses vs. other flower choices. In my own esteem a man who took the time to learn a woman’s favorite flower and delivered that choice would be the real man an thus worthy of the girl in question. Just a hint for the men out there, red roses don’t exactly cut it anymore, get the know the girl in question and you’ll not only be out less greenback at the flower shop but you’re likely to win bonus points. |
