Self-Involved...Dec 21, 2007 - 01:36 AM PST I was watching the show and noticed a comment by another user who felt "Quarterlife" is decent, but it was whiny and self-involved and too soap-opera-ish for their tastes. I totally have no issue with them feeling that way. I mean we're all entitled to our own opinions on things. I just felt weird because I sort of feel like... for a fictional production this is pretty close to real life. I mean, everyone is self-involved. Aren't they? Even if you don't think they are at first glance, or we're just not conscious of it in ourselves. But I think most people are. And maybe that's whiny, but that's kind of life. We're all stumbling around trying to figure out what the hell we're doing with ourselves and why and how are we ever going to be happy. At least many of us are, I think. We all want to follow our greatest dreams, but the trick is figuring out how to do that and still get by. Be happy and do everything you want, but still pay your bills and rent and eat on occasion. And the rest of us are just pretending everything's okay, perfect, complete and trudging onward so we don't have to deal with all the self-involved wondering. You know because it is just easier sometimes to pretend it doesn't exist. Ignore it. So it's like, on the one hand, while I think we all have a right to our own opinions I guess I'm just a little baffled that some people may not perceive how life imitates art or visa versa. Then again maybe some of us have it more together then others. I have no doubt. |
