So Much For That Next Generation, Huh?

I’m not here to preach about the dangers of obesity, but I do have an interesting story.

A lot of schools across North America have jumped right in with a sort of “shape of or ship out” program for the school in order to stop this whole childhood obesity epidemic. I have no complaints against this. I think it’s great or else we might not have that “next generation.”
My school was one of the schools who wanted to participate. They took out majority of the chips, most of the processd foods. All of that was replaced with home-cooked meals and fresh fruits and vegetables. Pop was taken from our cantene, however they left behind the pop machines. I don’t know why, but they’re there.

Defintion of cantene: In a nut shell, you grab your food and go. There aren’t any places for you to stop and eat.

So anyway, the school began posting signs all over the school encouraging exercise. The Government even extened mandatory physical education to grade twelve. Orignally it was only mandatory until grade ten. Our school was evolving.
Just yesterday, I was walking in through the front doors of my school and there was a sign:

“SLUSHIE MACHINE COMING SOON”

Wwwhhhaaattt?
What happened? We were doing so good.
And then I look again and the cantene’s LOADED with chips. Aw, man, we were so close.
They “claim” that the slushies are made with real fruit juice. You want real? I’ll show you real. Grab an orange and put it on a stick. There, real fruit juice. Those slushies are the ones you would find at your local 7/11. Nothing real about them.
They said, “Oh, but the chips this time are baked not fried.”
Yeah, so, what’s your point?
I know it’s all about choices, choices, choices. But we’re here at this school 25% of our day so, could you at least give us some descent options?

People are wondering “where did we go wrong with this generation?” or “why are they so lazy?” Well, have you seen the food you’ve been feeding us lately?
