The Ability To Write

We are all writers. It’s the discipline to put our stories on paper that differentiates who actually is a known writer and who isn’t. I believe that everyone daydreams and those daydreams are just stories and memories that could probably make a best selling novel. Any person at any age can relate to someone else, and that’s what makes their lives connect, that’s what makes their words connect. Not everybody likes every book they have ever read, and that’s because they cannot always relate to what’s written. But maybe someone they know loves the story that person hates because they can understand on a personal level. We are not all black and white with every thing one way or another; we are red, and blue, green, and purple! There is no one wrong and one right way to do some thing; there are endless possibilities on just one choice. Our characteristics are those colors that brighten the black and white of the world that show us the choices of life; our daydreams and stories are a part of those colors because who we are and what we feel are apparent in them. Some are out in the open, and some hide. Some are afraid of who they are so they cover it up. The problem with this is their colors start fading, and black and white is all they see. Soon, everything they do is right, and everyone else is wrong; soon the world is against them and they can’t even handle the littlest bit of change or they shut down; soon, they can’t even get the smallest bit of color out of the person they have become, they are lost. We are all writers you see, and maybe even putting a sentence down on a post it note, or a picture on a napkin during a break in the day will keep that color from falling out of our lives. We are writers of the soul, of the mind, and of the heart; whether it’s a picture or a word, a phrase or a song; it’s us showing our spirit, us showing we are not just black and white; we are red, and blue….green, and purple….we are the future, and the past….we are holding onto our world, yet venturing out into the great unknown. As long as we hold onto our inner core, as long as we see the possibilities and reach out for the choices that are floating around our lives nothing can be set in stone; we have the ability to break free, we have the ability to dream, we have the ability to write.
