The Army

Well i said it was a "story" for another time but now seems like when im going to write it to start right now im an 11b A.K.A. Infantry A.K.A. a grunt now this isnt exactly what i signed up to be but it is what i originally was going to do in the army i signed up to go through special forces training "Green Beret" but during Basic Training i decided that i didnt want to do that anymore so i automatically feel back to Infantry now like i said before im not entirly sure why i joined but i did and Basic wasnt all that hard for me it was somwhat like you hear and see but it wasnt that bad and it wasnt that hard in fact the army could be considered one of the easiest jobs to have all you have to do is fallow orders lol but after basic i went to airborne school and i must say that was one of the best and most fun things ive done it wasnt skydiving which i hope to somday do but it was still jumping from a plane and parachuting to the ground the most fun was the jump at night theres no better feeling of freedom then those few seconds of freefall in pitch black its so peacefull but after jump school i got stationed here at ft. lewis in WA in a unit that was just being formed and is still being formed slowly and nobody really knows weather or not we will actually deploy right now were supposed to go through predeployment certiffication in Mar 09 which usually meens you deploy about 3 months later but with the uncertanty that lies with who the next president will be also lies the answear as to weather or not we actually will deploy now as for army life its self it has ups and downs one positive is that although the pay isnt that much considering the hours we work the army pays all my room and board i get 30 days vacation a year and when in garrison we almost never work weekends however the negitives suck like living a few thousand miles from home working insanly long hours and many other things now people often ask me what i do day to day well my day usually starts at 5am we do physical training (PT) from 630 to 730ish then take from 730ish to 9am to get showered changed and have breakfest then we go to our company area and there we either clean weapons or have class's on different military things till 1130 tehn we take lunch till 1pm come back and we do more of the same as in the morning till 4pm ish at which time we start cleaning the building and getting ready to go home for the day and around 5pm were told whats going on the next day and are relessed for the night now there are other days in which we go to ranges to shoot our weapons for various training exercises and then theres our field time when we go to the woods for a certain period of time to do training and that pretty much sums most of it up but needless to say most days are extremly boring and pretty wastefull of time definatly not the things they show you in the recruiting stations lol but thats about it for now im sure ill write more some other time
