The Aurora Trail - Beginning

Feb 11, 2008 - 20:12 PM PST

I close my eyes tight and reopen them; I’m surrounded by beautiful green trees. So many leaves, so many and with each individual one holds a drop of water that leaves with a flick, and falls to the soft lush ground. I looked up and gazed at the sunlight flickering through the tree tops as it strobes the forest floor when the wind flows ever so softly through the canopy. This is my secret place; the place I go to when I want to be alone; when I just need to get away from it all. My place, the place that no one can enter, the place I created.
“Katherin,” Luther calls “Katherin, wake up.”
I jumped. Here I was, back in the cold room with monitors surrounding me, chrome devices of all shapes and sizes. I look over to see my mother lying on the bed under the white covers. She lies motionless, only able to breathe through special tubes which blow air in and out of her lungs.
