The choices we make...Mar 27, 2008 - 21:26 PM PST So I'm not sure if anyone actually will read this or even care but it's really crazy how the decisions that we make affect the way our lives turn out. I mean simply taking a different way home from work could prevent an accident that will never occur. It's also possible though that by taking that different way home you could in fact cause an accident. The crazy thing is that we will never know what was supposed to happen and if our decision really affected the outcome. Is there such a thing as fate or do we make our own destinies? That's something that I have continually questioned throughout my life. I feel like there are some things that happen that no one would ever choose to predestine for someone's life. I don't know how I feel about something or someone choosing the life I lead as well as the challenges that I am faced with. Why would anyone choose to have these terrible things occur in someone's life. That though goes into a question of faith and whether we believe that there really is something larger than us. I want to believe there is a reason to everything that happens to us and that everything happens for a reason but I don't know. I have always been told that everything happens for a reason but then what does that make us, puppets in someone else's game? I just want to know that the things that happen have a reason for happening, that if I was meant to have a car accident, I have it because that means that it didn't happen to someone else. I want to know that there is something bigger than me out there, some reason that I'm here, some purpose I am here to serve. I'm not sure if what I'm saying is making sense but it really baffles me. I mean there are so many what ifs and what could have beens but we will never truly know what they are. I wonder what a world would be like without all of the environmental issues we face today; would we still be as environmentally aware as we are now. What about all of the wars that have taken place throughout history; what would the world be like if something like the Revolutionary War, WWI or Vietnam had never actually taken place. I feel like our world is so out of balance right now with everything that is going on and it is our generations job to attempt to fix all of the wrong done by the previous generations. That's not to say though that we are not at fault for the issues that this world faces because we are, especially involving the environment. It is placed on our shoulders to come up with new solutions to save the world we live on and I think that although some understand that, others have not yet begun to grasp that fact. Yes, there are things that are being done in order to help but I just hope that we can all face the facts that more things need to be done and start to make these changes before it's too late. |
