The CrashApr 01, 2008 - 14:00 PM PST The snow was flying by the car window, blurring the buildings and other cars outside. Turning away, she glanced at her mother, talking on the phone, oblivious to her restlessness. With mild interest she examined her little brother Hunter in the messy back seat, picking his nose. Sighing, she turned on the radio to yet another Christmas song and closed her eyes. Suddenly, with a screech of brakes and a shriek from her mother, Hannah was being flipped upside down in the air at breakneck speed. Everything seemed to slow down as gravity and air had a fight over who would win them. But then it ended with a crash; they were down on the pavement. She opened her eyes. With the blood rushing to her head and her seat belt barley restraining her, Hannah realized that they were overturned. Turning to her motionless mother Hannah’s heartbeat quickened. She reached a tentative arm over to touch her mother’s head. Her fingers came away bloody. By now Hannah knew what had happened, and she was shocked and terriffied at the prospect of her mother being dead. She heard sirens in the distance, approaching quickly to come to their aide. As strong arms lifted her and her brother out of the car, she hoped fervently that everything would be all right. |
