The Power of Family & Prayer

Mar 31, 2008 - 01:48 AM PST

Well, let me start by saying, I don't like to shove my religious beliefs down anyone's throat, so I won't. All I will state is based on my own experiences with them today (actually yesterday considering I am bored out of my mind @ 3:35AM and talking to Jessica *VegeVlogger* as I type this).

So, today was a family meeting to discuss our bi-annual (if that's even a word LOL) family reunion. While this may seem boring to you, I always cherish any time I can get with my family. We may have our differences, but we always have a good time. We decided to hold our family reunion in Orlando, FL this year as opposed to just having it here in Chicago,IL in result of this being our most expensive family reunion of all time.

To make the long story short, we opened up the meeting with a prayer (that lasted longer than as expected, but that's okay!) about how we should pray for specific members of the family as opposed to paying for the family as a whole. Let's face it EVERY has a family member that you know just needs a little help. If you don't have one, don't worry because you will!

So, as we prayed for the specific members of the family, I realized how hurt the family was to see our family members in such bad shape. It honestly brought tears to my eyes. While I would like to help them, I know that it is out of my hands. I know that being a 3rd Generation "S" Family Reunion Board Member, we have to take on the burdens of the family as well as support them. I just cant say how hard this is.

It's very difficult seeing the ones you love in so much distress, and having a hard time. You wish you could just take all of their problems away and just throw them out the window but it seems as though you are totally helpless...well until you pray. See you may not be able to help them, but GOD can.

I guess what I am trying to say is, keep your family close no matter how weird or strange they may be, or whatever test and trials they may have. Keep them close to your heart. Pray for their well-being and just help them strive for excellence, as well as pray for yourself.
