The stars are fake

I used to believe that when you looked to the sky,
Other's where looking too.
It's one big sky that we all share together.


During the day we look in the direction of our love,
We picture how far away yet how close they might be.
The clouds roll by and it's possible that very same cloud,
Was once hanging over their view.
It moves on,
Now it passes on to the next person looking for the connection.
If that love is on the other side of the world we hope that soon,
Maybe that sun will rise before them in a few hours.
Maybe they are thinking that a little while ago,
Just a little while ago their distant love was feeling the warmth of that sun.
It brings hope and hearts together.


When the sun sets, blackness is painted with a rich dust,
A rich sparkling dust that we can all see.
A sky once colorful, now full of black and white,
How real can it be to us?
It's just dust,
But it shares the same connection, the same passion.
A passion of romance and hope, love and wishful thinking,
We share it together just the same, and hope,
Just hope, that they are looking at the same stars.
Don't do it, I beg you this.
The stars are fake, as fake as the light you see twinkling in the sky.


When a distant star shines bright for you,
It only did it millions of years ago.
By the time you wish and trust in its glory,
It's connection of hope and love,
It's not there,
It's gone and you are only wishing on its fossil of light.
Your wish is only as good as what you wish upon.
Never look to the sky for the answers, the sky is not yours.
The stars are fake and you will not like its plans for you.
Do not hope for the moon or the sun either,
For they constantly move, they will not be the same.


I used to believe in all this, it gave me spirit.
Other's now taught me differently.
It's one big lie that we all share together.
