the truth
it scares us and it dares us
to find
ourselves, who once were whole

we run
in search of time forgotten
we think
we’d find what’s lost ‘n’ rotten

re-birth
we need, but now cannot heed
we march
off to long and distant war

because
see not, we white banners
once wrought
with peace, living all around

in battle
we’re caught, totally distraught
afraid
we live now for naught

blinded
by our own deceptive thought
our mail’s
coated by the wars we’ve fought

the truth
long since have we forgotten
bearing
to look inside our inner self
