What a Friday

Jan 05, 2008 - 00:55 AM PST

So. I had volleyball practice today. After not playing for 2 weeks and not going to the gym for 3...lets just say it just about SUCKED.

For some reason the team was having difficulties doing everything so our coach got mad and we had to pay for it big time. We didnt have to run or anything. No that would have been easy. Instead we did pushups, V-up (kind up like a crunch cept its full body), 2 full court lunges(which is just about horrible), and 50 passes whith out coming up, not even between the passes. Can you say Dead Legs?? Man I am sore!! But its all to make us better I guess.

My dad was saying that someone needs to step up and become a leader sort of person on the team. Now, I've never really been that outgoing but all my coachs (Like literally everyone I've ever had) has told me that I'm leadership material for the team. (Oddly enough these same coaches have never made me Captain...can you say Politics and Money??) But anyways, I'm thinkin that I'm going to have to step up and take that roll. Otherwise this team isn't going to do as well as we can. And we've got some really great players. Now, I dont like to brag, but we could make into the top ten in the nation if we worked hard enough.

Now, on second note. I got my WII from the post office today. We got it off ebay for a pretty damn good price. So we (I) set it up and went through everything and man o' man is that a fun game consol. See, again, I've never been into video games. Ever. Last video game i played i was prolly about 5 and it was Duck Hunt on Nintendo 64. I LOVED duck hunt. But anyways. WII is amazing. And They now have guitar hero for it too. Im thinkin im going to save my money and buy it. Or if they have Rock band (which is even better), I'm going to buy that one.

ok so now that you've read all about my amazingly thrilling friday evening...I guess i'll quit boring you now...not that anyones actually gunna read this..but hey, I can dream can't i?

I was always the quiet type as well, never stepped up to anything. 5 months into my job I applied for assistant manager. I didn't apply because I thought "Hey, I can lead these girls" I did it so my resume looked better (ok it was a little selfish). I've been an assistant manager for two months now and I love it. I never thought I'd have the will power or strength to lead people.

From observing my own actions and the reactions to this, I have come to this conclusion: people who lay low and quiet are like silent farts.. we're quiet but dang do we make huge impact (minus the smellyness!)

I'm sure you will do great! I hope to hear good volleyball stories from you! I want to hear you at least made it to playoffs!

Hi like they say if you want something right do it yourself. Is team captain an elected position by the team or the coach?

I read it. Anyway, stepping into the leadership role is a great idea. I know all too well about politics, and really the best way to handle it is to be a great example and motivate your team. You can't change people, but you can inspire them, and the best way to do it is to work as though you want to be the best and sharing your thoughts with your team. Probably a cliche answer, but life is just so much better when you have a little more control over it. By the way, the Wii rocks.
