what if?

I'm really freaked out right now. I just found out that my dad has had cancer tests for the last three weeks and waited to tell me. He still has more to undergo but it scares me. My dad has skin cancer. He's been cancer free for the last 25 years but the doctors found his lymph nodes under one arm to be swollen to the size of a fist and a mass on his adrenal gland. I know that there's a chance it may not be cancer, but what if it is? I hate not being able to fix things and this is one thing I definitely can't fix. My dad's not even 60 yet...what if the worst happens? What can I do besides pray? My dad lives in New York and i'm in texas, I can't even be with him when all of this is happening...why is this happening?
