Who We Might Be, and Probably AreJul 19, 2008 - 23:43 PM PST We walk amongst lost faces Faded into the shadow cast of the people they represent We men and women, children Masks welded to our skeletons All have felt frigid cold crawling, creeping in our skin Seeping in with the assumptions of who we might be, and probably are Two seconds of interaction Come And went in a passing glance We all struggle to constantly keep the mask intact The history of a peoples Placed as fact Disassociating "us" from "we" Turning "we" into "they" The perceptional partition Strengthens a system Hell bent on collating a manmade perdition But who am I To question the norm That I, do in fact, follow? Hell, I’m about to say “Fuck making a difference, I’m takin a nap I can start that shit tomorrow” In a world full of Be this, Like that, To here, At all times Ever present is the illusion Trading in the truth For what ever happens to make the machine run that day Be it fear, apathy, confusion But, if you see behind the bullshit There is only one conclusion Change just don’t happen By somebody saying “It’s time to start a movement!” You have to get up every day Ready to do battle And move with it |
