Why Do People Hope?Feb 17, 2008 - 15:55 PM PST What is hope? Why do so many people rely on it? Is life so bad that the only thing some have to hold on to is hope? Some people register hope with religion. Something greater than humanity to solve what they can't. It's kind of humourous to realize that instead of hoping for something logical, people look to their so-called gods for aid. Have they ever been saved? Some might argue that their hopes and beliefs in such a god for salvation is so strong, that they overlook the fact that they save themselves. They are given a sort of uplifting so strong, that all physical and mental exhaustion is put in the back of their minds until they are "free", until they get that release they've been waiting for. I believe that hope is a lack of knowledge of what to hold on to. People drown in their own misery to the point where they give up, they don't see what they have to love, to live for. On a side note, hope isn't all bad, I hope (for lack of a better word), I haven't gotten that message across with my tone. Like I said, in times of need, once all common thought, and physical exertion is out the window, without hope, without that illusion of help, sanity is an impossibility. |
