Why Does It Hurt To Care

Jun 24, 2008 - 01:55 AM PST

Why does it hurt to care? You meet some people in your life that its almost as if the two of you were destined to meet. You get along great despite your differences or there lack of. You become fond of each other and you are almost inseparable. You have a hard time sleeping at night because your so use to that person sleeping next to you, you just toss and turn all night because your cuddle buddy is gone. Then one day a boy shows up. A boy that had made her life miserable, made her cry every night, made her cry in your arms because he hurt her. This boy comes back into her life one day and all of a sudden your not as important or "valued" anymore. It hurts inside because you care. Not for yourself but for her. Every time she smiles it gives you this warm feeling inside no matter what made her happy. But now the thing that makes her happy is the thing that broke her down. But you see that look in her eye. What is it? Its love. She loves him unconditionally. She loves him the same as you do to her. But you care so much that even though you aren the one that she wakes up to every morning. Your not the one she goes to for comfort. Your not the one she says I love you too. Your not the one that she loves unconditionally. Your the one who was there when he wasn't. Your the one who will always be there. Your the one that cares so much that you support and care for her that as long as she is smiling and that she is happy you can go on with your everyday life not wondering if she will be ok because she is. Its just not with you, and it hurts. Caring hurts but why. Why does it hurt you when you did everything you could at every moment that was given to you to make her smile, but you got kicked to the curb. Why?
